Moser Goes Hybrid: Mechanical Chronograph Meets First-Ever Connected Watch

H. Moser & Cie has just surprised the watch world with a bold double launch: one Streamliner is a mechanical chronograph, the other a fully connected smartwatch. It’s a daring one-two punch, crafted in collaboration with Alpine Motorsports and Swiss tech specialist Sequent.

A Brand That Redefines Its Own Limits

Founded in 1828, H. Moser & Cie has built its reputation on combining minimalist elegance with complex mechanical craftsmanship. The Streamliner collection, introduced in 2020, redefined what an integrated steel sports watch could be, with its cushion-shaped case, fluid bracelet, and sleek fumé dials. This new collaboration with Alpine Motorsports pushes the boundaries even further, delivering not one but two distinct expressions of performance and precision.

From Powerful Pushers to Latency Alerts

The Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition is a celebration of traditional horology. Its 42.3 mm steel case, finished with a blue PVD coating, houses the HMC 700 calibre—a central chronograph movement with a flyback function, developed in collaboration with Agenhor. The movement is visible through the dial, with bridges shaped to evoke the suspension geometry of an F1 car. Chronograph hands are centrally mounted, and the red-and-blue accents echo Alpine’s racing livery.

In contrast, the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition is H. Moser & Cie’s first connected watch, developed with Sequent. At 42.6 mm, it retains the Streamliner silhouette but features a digital display subtly integrated beneath a transparent sub-dial with Moser’s signature Funky Blue fumé finish. It offers smart functionalities such as a perpetual calendar, GMT, chronograph, fitness tracking, and team-specific alerts. A hybrid system ensures up to a year of battery life on standby and several days in active mode.

Two Tools, One Racing Soul

These two watches serve different purposes but share a common DNA. The Drivers Edition is aimed at collectors who value traditional watchmaking but want something bold, sporty, and infused with racing spirit. It’s mechanical, tactile, and deeply satisfying to operate.

The Mechanics Edition, on the other hand, is designed for those who live at the intersection of performance and technology—F1 engineers, racing enthusiasts, and modern wearers who want their watch to do more than tell time. It’s a connected tool wrapped in Swiss horological design.

A Statement in Modern Tool-Watchmaking

By releasing both watches together, H. Moser & Cie sends a powerful message: modern watchmaking doesn’t have to choose between tradition and innovation. These watches are two sides of the same philosophy, built with care, purpose, and precision. The Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition is priced at around CHF 59,000 (~$70 000 together) and is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces. The Mechanics Edition will be sold separately in 500 pieces, with preference given to past collectors of Moser x Alpine editions.

This release marks a turning point not only for Moser, but for independent watchmaking as a whole. It’s proof that innovation, when guided by identity, can lead to meaningful evolution. And let’s face it—if you’re going to go hybrid, it might as well be this good. But if you are a hard-core mechanical fan, here is another recent release from Moser that you will love : the Spiced Aqua collection !
